After my earlier post about Trent Reznor and the new way of doing things, the Beastie Boys are dipping their toes into this new domain, by way of a re-release of their classic album (and my personal favourite Beasties album) Ill Communication.

Much like Reznor’s proposition you can buy products at various levels - mp3’s, CDs, Vinyl, Duluxe Vinyl etc with little add ons - T-shirts, B-sides, coffee table books…

This is just another major cancer scare for major record companies. This new economy works for fans as they have more product options, and for the artists themselves as they have direct control over what and how they release their music.

Roll over and die old dinosaur.
